Employment Opportunities: Sr. Engineer – Liaison, Mechanical

Under the direction of the Manager of Mechanical Engineering, the position of Sr. Liaison Engineer requires a strong, motivated and detailed individual who can independently make on-site decisions concerning multiple engineering disciplines. The Sr. Liaison Engineer must also be able to communicate effectively with co-workers, customers and the FAA to resolve technical issues.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

  1. B.S. in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering (preferred) and 8 years related experience, or ten (10) years related experience.
  2. Strong command of the methodologies, specifications, components, and materials used in the design, certification, and installation of:
    • Interior Monuments
    • Interior Linings
    • Structural Installations
    • Mechanical Integration
    • Mechanical Systems
  3. Ability to efficiently and effectively provide liaison support between customer facilities and our home office in Tulsa, OK
  4. Ability to independently make decisions on engineering dispositions and successfully resolve fit, form, and function problems; understanding the limitations of manufacturing methods.
  5. Able to work seamlessly within customer environment while ensuring decisions balance customer and CI objectives.
  6. Knowledge of industry practices and regulations including CARs, JARs, FARs, Advisory Circulars and Orders preferred.
  7. Interpersonal skills necessary to communicate effectively with co-workers, customers, production work crews, and customer Quality Assurance organizations to resolve technical issues and implement corrective actions.
  8. Able to interpret engineering drawings, engineering change orders, non-routine dispositions, tooling drawings and understands Manufacturing Work Instructions.
  9. Flexibility to work weekends, shifted workweek, and second or third shifts when on-site at customer facilities for extended period of time.
  10. Computer literacy in PC operations including networking and working knowledge of computer-aided design programs, including ACAD (required), Solid Works (Preferred) MS Project, Word, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat.
  11. Excellent knowledge of Executive VIP Interior Completions aircraft preferred.
  12. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  13. Ability to travel domestically and internationally (passport will be required) as necessary to perform the job functions defined herein.

SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Plan, organize, coordinate, and control the tasks and junior engineers for which he has been delegated responsibility. Act as an on-site Project Manager for projects in which workload allows.

    Initial Engineering Bid – A Sr. Liaison Engineer will carry out the following tasks:

    • Assist the Mechanical Engineering Manager and applicable Project Manager in Producing an Initial Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) quotation.
    • Assist the Mechanical Engineering Manager in generating:
      • a preliminary detailed engineering bid, which will remain Company Confidential using the standard CI bid format
      • a resource plan, which will remain Company Confidential using the standard CI format.
    • Evaluate and aggressively pursue any opportunities within the project to provide product.

    Project Launch – Kick-Off – Upon Contract Award and receipt of Initial Payment the Sr. Liaison Engineer will be responsible for the following tasks:

    • relocating to the client's facility and organizing the CI liaison office such that the requirements outlined herein can be achieved in an efficient and effective manner

    Follow-On Project Milestones – Participate in the following Project Milestones:

    • Preliminary Design Review
    • Critical Design Review
    • Certification Review
    • Final Testing, Certification Completion
  2. Provide solutions to complex problems which require the regular use of ingenuity and innovation.
  3. Work without appreciable direction. Exercise considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to achieving assigned design/certification objectives.
  4. Provide technical leadership with respect to design, manufacturing and production overview on assigned engineered products and other related activities.
  5. Direct the day to day activities of the on-site liaison group (as delegated by the Manager of Mechanical Engineering).
  6. Provide leadership and technical expertise to the management and marketing/sales organizations for goals and objectives, and standardization.
  7. Convey information concisely (both orally and written) without loss of necessary detail to individuals at all levels with varied backgrounds.
  8. Compile and present timely and accurate reports on areas of responsibility to management.
  9. Observe company rules and regulations, including housekeeping, and proper and safe use of operating equipment.
  10. Coordinate with all engineering groups to ensure deliverables are of utmost quality, to support production needs of clients.
  11. Provide timely schedule updates.
  12. Retain and develop relationships with existing and new customers/clients.
  13. Support all company activities at Tulsa office, which may require travel to and from in short notice.
  14. Perform other related duties as assigned.

LIMITATIONS AND ENVIRONMENT

  1. Office and aircraft facility environments.
  2. Occasional exposure to aircraft engine noise and fumes.
  3. Occasional exposure to seasonal weather.
